In times past, the Lord God has literally shown Himself or appeared to His servants and His people; it is not just done in spectacle, but for a specific reason, as to encourage, instruct or give a prophetic word.
Exodus 3:1-2, Jeremiah 31:3-6 and Luke 24:36-43.
