In spiritual and often very literal terms, the mode of travel from the natural realm on earth to the spirit realm toward heaven and the throne of God, and vice versa, is always spoken of in terms of 'upward' or 'downward' motion; servants of the Lord, angels and even Jesus Christ Himself transited in this manner.
