Now Joshua the son of Nun sent out two men from Acacia Grove to spy secretly, saying, “Go, view the land, especially Jericho.” So they went, and came to the house of a harlot named Rahab, and lodged there. Although the profession of being a harlot was always considered a public shame in faith-based communities in scripture, behind the scenes, they became in entangled with some of the prominent figures in the bible; Jesus maneuvered among this risqué business, with critics constantly at His side, often accusing Him of befriending the lowest rungs of society.
