Joshua Twenty-Three - Waxing Old

"Now it came to pass, a long time after the Lord had given rest to Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua was old, advanced in age. And Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders, for their heads, for their judges, and for their officers, and said to them: 'I am old, advanced in age,'" Joshua 23:1-3, NKJV. #WaxingOld
In many translations of scripture, the phrase 'growing old' or 'becoming old' or 'advancing in age' comes from the original verb phrase 'to wax old'; it is usually used in a good sense in the context of someone growing old in years, but also speaks of the transition of laws of the old covenant as they become obsolete, making way for the new and better promises of God through Jesus Christ.
