First Chronicles Fourteen - Inquiring God

"Now when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out against them. Then the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim. And David inquired of God, saying, 'Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?' The Lord said to him, 'Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.'" 1 Chronicles 14:8-10, NKJV. #InquiringGod
The word 'inquire' in many translations of scripture was originally spelled beginning with an "e" (enquire), meaning to ask about a certain matter, oftentimes seeking information from God; when these inquiries were made, people went to a prophet or priest who would act as an intermediary, or oftentimes directly to the Lord through prayer, usually wanting to know what direction to take, what will happen in the future or to get hidden knowledge.
