Second Chronicles Thirteen - Vain Men

"Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and rebelled against his lord. Then worthless rogues gathered to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and inexperienced and could not withstand them," 2 Chronicles 13:6-7, NKJV. #VainMen
There are many descriptions of unwise men considered not in the 'upper echelons' of society mentioned in the scriptures, who often are said to gather around opposition leaders during rebellions; the word most associated with these rogues is derived from 'vain', as in the phrase 'vain men', but they are also called reckless, worthless, empty-headed, deceitful, sinful, warped, foolish and divisive.
