Psalm Forty-Four - Slaughtered Sheep
"If we had forgotten the name of our God, Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god, would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. Yet for Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter," Psalm 44:20-22, NKJV.
Despite the willingness of the children of God to live for the Lord in obedience and seek after righteousness, the fact is that we reside in a world contrary to the things of God; the machine-like barrage of evil we encounter each day systematically slaughters the countenance of the true believer in order to prove the Lord's goodness.
Isaiah 53:7-8, Jeremiah 11:18-19 and Romans 8:35-37.
