There are many references of the elect being called the children of God in scripture, but just as many showing not only groups and individuals declaring ownership of the Lord, but also of Him telling us, "I am yours"; it is a very simple, but also intimate gesture shared between we believers and our Father in heaven.
Ezekiel 20:19-20, 2 Thessalonians 1:1-2 and Revelation 19:5-6.
