When scripture mentions the earth trembling, it also uses the words shake or shook in conjunction with the description of how the things in this world, whether it be mountains, seas, nations or individuals, fall away at the presence or voice of God; this language is primarily evident when the word talks about the anger or wrath of the Lord.
