Genesis Eight - Peace Dove
"Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth. So he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore," Genesis 8:11-12, NKJV. #PeaceDove
The dove giving Noah the signal from God after the great floodwaters dried up symbolizes, even to this day, peace on the earth; it is the dove that represents the most gentle and precious of all the birds, a metaphor used in the scriptures for both the demure spirit of the believer and the fragile delicacy of life.
Psalm 68:13-14, Song of Solomon 2:14 and Matthew 10:16.
