There are times in the scriptures when the people of God were instructed by the Lord, or forced by circumstances, to take up arms and engage in battle and warfare; during other instances, God would sometimes fight on their behalf.
Numbers 31:3-5, 1 Chronicles 12:23-39 and Luke 22:35-38.
