While many people may die of natural causes or for seemingly random reasons, there are times in the scriptures where the Lord personally desires to kill a person or persons Himself; usually, it is due to direct disobedience to His command or flagrant sin.
1 Samuel 2:25, 1 Kings 13:20-24, and Acts 5:1-11.
